III John 1:9-14

The Evils of Discord

Discord is one of those evils sometimes found in the church. God hates discord and strife, but He loves harmony and peace, but those who spread discord will be punished by the Lord. Those who spread discord within the church should be disciplined swiftly by the Leaders. Elders must not ignore it; God will hold us all accountable who ignore or promote discord in any way. Proverbs states it emphatically that there are six things the Lord hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: “Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers.” (Prov. 6:16-18)
